This is a substantial work by comparison with many of the contemporary cantatas far from consisting of 3 Recit-aria pairs, it consists of no fewer than 11 movements. The composer added an instrumental prelude; a ‘Muzette’ is called for by the libretto; as is a movement descriptive of bird song, here titled ‘Simphonie de Rossignol’ and Air; and included with these is a chaconne, as well as brief instrumental introductions to two of the Airs.
